Morningside & Ansley Park

Located just northwest of midtown Atlanta, the historic neighborhood of Morningside beckons with its tree-lined streets, charming homes, walkability and parklike charm, along with Ansley Park, its neighbor to the west. An Intown oasis minutes from downtown, Morningside and Ansley Park offer the perfect blend of urban convenience and quiet neighborhood living, making them easily two of the most coveted areas in Atlanta.

Emerging from farmland on what was once the outskirts of Atlanta throughout the 1800s, the land now known as Ansley Park began to be developed as one of Atlanta’s original suburbs around 1905, while development of neighboring Morningside began in the 1920s. The land was annexed by the City of Atlanta in 1925. As the city continued to grow around these neighborhoods, the Morningside Lenox Park Association was established in the 1960s to fight plans to build an interstate through the area. Their efforts were successful, and since that time the association has sought to preserve the neighborhood’s original community feel. Today, many of the original historic dwellings still stand in Morningside and Ansley park remain as these remain as two of Atlanta’s most walkable Intown neighborhoods.

Morningside and Ansley Park both lie within the Atlanta Public School system, and are serviced by Morningside Elementary School, Inman Middle School and Henry W. Grady High School. Private school options in the area include Heritage Prep School and Carlisle Montessori School, while the famed Emory University lies just a few blocks to the east.

The Morningside/Ansley Park area are known for its parks, including the historic Sunken Gardens and the Morningside Nature Trail, among several others. These neighborhoods are convenient to a number of great shops and restaurants within walking distance, most of which can be found on the northwest side along or near Piedmont Road. The ever-popular Piedmont Park and Atlanta Botanical Garden lie between the two neighborhoods, while the acclaimed Ansley Golf Club is found just to the north.

The desirability of this neighborhood is reflected in its property values, which remain well above average for the city. The median home value in this area is around $713,000, with actual home prices ranging from the mid-$400s to $2 million-plus.
